3176 – SGL supplies Enterobacteria Enrichment (EE) Broth – Mossel (EP.USP.JP) as a ready-to-use bottled medium for routine microbiological testing. It is suitable for pharmaceutical microbiology, environmental monitoring, cosmetics and personal-care testing, and water and environmental testing.
Enterobacteria Enrichment (EE) Broth – Mossel (EP.USP.JP) selectively enriches bile-tolerant Gram-negative bacteria. European Pharmacopoeia 2.6.13 and USP <62> describe the formulation for testing non-sterile products for bile-tolerant Gram-negative bacteria. The medium supports the recovery of Enterobacteriaceae that processing procedures may have stressed or injured.
Dextrose provides a fermentable carbohydrate and promotes the growth of target organisms such as Escherichia coli and Salmonella species. Ox bile and brilliant green suppress competing microorganisms. Following enrichment, laboratories subculture the broth onto Violet Red Bile Glucose Agar (VRBGA) to isolate and detect presumptive bile-tolerant Gram-negative bacteria.
SGL manufactures and quality-controls the product to its internal specifications and in compliance with ISO 9001 (reference FM37824). A UKAS-accredited laboratory operating to ISO/IEC 17025 (accreditation number 4356) tests the product. At the customer’s request, the laboratory can also perform additional specification testing.
