An emulsion of egg yolk containing potassium tellurite for use in Baird-Parker agar, for the identification and enumeration of strains of coagulase-positive Staphylococci by their lecithinase activity. The addition of Potassium tellurite allows the growth of Staphylococcus to have a black appearance.
