R2A Agar (Reasoner’s 2A Agar) supports the recovery of a broad range of microorganisms from potable and purified water samples. Its formulation follows the description in the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.).
SGL supplies R2A Agar (Reasoner’s 2A Agar) in ready-to-use 90 mm plates for heterotrophic plate counting and the recovery of stressed organisms from water and pharmaceutical water systems. Laboratories can use these plates for pharmaceutical microbiology, biotechnology, environmental monitoring, water testing and environmental testing. The product supports microbiological water-testing workflows described in ISO 6222.
Heterotrophic organisms cannot make their own food from inorganic substances. They obtain carbon and energy from absorbing/consuming organic material which is produced from other organisms.
