Description
3152 -SGL supplies Legionella Acid Buffer, Syrup as a ready-to-use bottled reagent for the selective isolation and enumeration of Legionella species in water and environmental samples. It is suitable for water and environmental testing and supports workflows described in ISO 11731 for the detection and enumeration of Legionella in water.
Laboratories use Legionella Acid Buffer as a selective treatment following membrane filtration. The acidic conditions reduce the number of non-Legionella bacteria present on the membrane while supporting the recovery of Legionella species.
Following membrane filtration, users add 25–35 mL of acid buffer to the membrane and allow it to act for five minutes. They then remove the buffer under vacuum and rinse the membrane with Page’s Saline or a comparable buffer. Finally, users aseptically transfer the membrane onto a Legionella-specific culture medium for incubation and examination.
