Description

7991 – SGL supplies Bacillus cereus Selective Agar (MYP) in a ready-to-use 90 mm plate for routine microbiological testing. The plate supports applications in pharmaceutical microbiology, food and beverage testing, and contract testing laboratories. SGL manufactures and quality-controls the product according to its internal specifications.

Bacillus cereus Selective Agar (MYP) selectively recovers Bacillus cereus, which typically forms pink or red colonies surrounded by a white precipitate. The formulation provides both selective and differential properties.

Selective: The polymyxin B supplement inhibits Gram-negative bacteria and other susceptible microorganisms.

Differential: The medium differentiates Bacillus species according to lecithinase activity, mannitol fermentation and resistance to polymyxin B. Egg yolk detects lecithinase activity by producing a precipitation zone around positive colonies. B. cereus typically does not ferment mannitol.

SGL manufactures this product under its ISO 9001-certified quality management system (reference FM37824). A UKAS-accredited laboratory operating to ISO/IEC 17025 (reference 4356) tests the product in accordance with ISO 11133. SGL can also conduct additional specification testing at the customer’s request.
