Description

8383CN

SGL supplies 8383CN – Pseudomonas CN Agar, 55mm Plate as a ready-to-use medium for the selective detection, isolation and presumptive identification of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The plate supports pharmaceutical microbiology, biotechnology, environmental monitoring and water-testing applications. Its formulation meets the requirements of EN ISO 16266 for detecting and enumerating P. aeruginosa in water using membrane filtration and complies with ISO 11133.

Cetrimide and nalidixic acid suppress competing microorganisms and improve selectivity. Cetrimide, a quaternary ammonium compound, disrupts microbial cell membranes and inhibits Gram-positive bacteria and many competing Gram-negative organisms. The strong intrinsic resistance of P. aeruginosa allows it to grow while cetrimide suppresses much of the accompanying flora. Nalidixic acid provides additional inhibition of susceptible Gram-negative bacteria, particularly Klebsiella and Proteus spp.

SGL manufactures this product (Pseudomonas CN Agar, 55mm Plate) in compliance with ISO 9001 (Ref. FM37824). A UKAS-accredited laboratory (ISO 17025, Ref. 4356) tests the medium in accordance with ISO 11133.

SGL can perform additional specification testing to meet individual customer requirements.
