4619 – Tryptone Azolectin Tween Broth (TAT Broth) is a ready-to-use bottled medium supplied by SGL for routine microbiological testing. It is suitable for use in pharmaceutical microbiology; cosmetics and personal care. Manufactured and quality controlled to SGL internal specifications.

Tryptone Azolectin Tween Broth (TAT Broth), also known as Casein Peptone Lecithin Polysorbate Broth, is used for the cultivation on micro-organisms from highly viscous or gelatinous materials such as salves and ointments. It has been especially adapted to the microbiological examination of non-sterile products from pharmaceuticals, cosmetic and raw material or end products for enumeration studies. It is highly suited for the sterility testing of cosmetics.

Pancreatic digest of casein provides carbon, nitrogen, vitamins and minerals. This provides optimal conditions for spore germination and micro-organism regeneration.  Azolectin (lecithin) inactivates chlorohexidine, cetrimide, polymixin B and chlorinated phenols. Polysorbate (Tween®) 20 inactivates phenol and phenol derivatives, benzoic acid, p-hydroxybenzoic acid and their ethers. Together they inactivate quaternary ammonium and phosphonium compounds. Neutralisation on common preservatives allow the growth of contaminating flora.
