3192 -SGL supplies Rappaport-Vassiliadis Soya Peptone Broth (RVS) Broth (ISO), Universal as a ready-to-use bottled medium for routine microbiological testing. It is suitable for water and environmental testing, the food and beverage industry, and contract testing laboratories. The product supports Salmonella testing workflows described in ISO 6579 and, where applicable, ISO 11133.

RVS Broth, also known as Rappaport–Vassiliadis medium with soya, selectively enriches Salmonella species. Salmonella can tolerate the medium’s high osmotic pressure and malachite green content, multiply at a relatively low pH and grow with limited nutritional resources. These selective conditions suppress competing microorganisms while allowing Salmonella to multiply, supporting its detection in complex samples. Following enrichment, laboratories subculture the sample onto Xylose Lysine Deoxycholate (XLD) Agar to isolate and presumptively identify Salmonella colonies before completing appropriate confirmation tests.

SGL manufactures and quality-controls the product to its internal specifications and in compliance with ISO 9001 (reference FM37824). A UKAS-accredited laboratory operating to ISO/IEC 17025 (accreditation number 4356) tests the product in accordance with ISO 11133. At the customer’s request, the laboratory can also perform additional specification testing.
