D/E Neutralising Broth is a medium recommended for neutralising and testing antiseptics and disinfectants, particularly in environmental samples where neutralisation of the chemical is important to determine its bactericidal activity.
D/E Neutralizing Broth was developed by Dey and Engley to neutralize a broad spectrum of disinfectants and preservative antimicrobial chemicals. These include glutaraldehyde, phenolics, chlorine, formaldehyde, mercurials and quaternary ammonium compounds. Components which neutralise the disinfectants/antiseptics are: Sodium thioglycollate, sodium thiosulphate, sodium bisulphite, soya lecithin and polysorbate 80. Bromocresol purple is is used as an indicator for the utilisation of dextrose. This reaction caused the appearance of the broth to change from purple to yellow indicating organism growth/acid production.
SGL manufacture in compliance with ISO 9001 (Ref No FM37824) and tested in accordance with ISO11133 by a UKAS (ISO 17025) accredited laboratory (Ref No. 4356) and additional specification testing may be performed if requested by the customer.
