8022Y – Columbia Blood Agar + 0.5% Yeast Extract + 5% Defibrinated Horse Blood, 90mm Plate is a ready-to-use prepared plate supplied by SGL for cultivation of fastidious organisms and observation of haemolytic reactions. It is suitable for use in pharmaceutical microbiology; biotechnology; environmental monitoring; cosmetics and personal care; food and beverage. Manufactured and quality controlled to SGL internal specifications.
The combination of Columbia Blood Agar + 0.5% Yeast Extract + 5% Defibrinated Horse Blood promotes rapid, luxuriant growth with well defined haemolytic reactions. It is particularly useful for isolating and identifying fastidious bacteria which require hemin and NAD and promoting good colonial differentiation. The addition of yeast extract provides a source of B vitamins, amino acids, peptides and nucleotides alongside other growth promoting substances. The yeast extract also supports robust growth of the fastidious bacteria.
SGL manufactures in compliance with ISO 9001 (reference FM37824). A UKAS-accredited laboratory operating to ISO/IEC 17025 (reference 4356) tests the medium. The laboratory can also perform additional specification testing upon customer request.
