Description

0954 – Sterile Purified Water, Bijou is a ready-to-use bottled medium supplied by SGL for routine microbiological testing. It is suitable for use in pharmaceutical microbiology; biotechnology. Manufactured and quality controlled to SGL internal specifications.

Sterile Purified Water facilitates critical production processes, is the primary ingredient in production formulation and is used as a cleaning agent for equipment.

Southern Group Laboratory purify their water in an 8 step process:

1. Iron and Carbon filtration. (removes chlorine and organics)
2. Addition on water softener.
3. 50 micron sediment filter.
4. First stage reverse osmosis. (Reverse Osmosis – RO- requires pressure to force water through a semi-permeable membrane. Particles, ions and molecules larger than water molecules remain on one side of the membrane whilst nearly pure water exits across the membrane. Pressure is also needed to prevent back-flow.)
5. Second stage reverse osmosis
6. Ultra-Violet sterilisation.
7. Ion exchange resin beds.
8. 0.2 micron filter.

Stages 6-8 constantly cycles to prevent water stagnation and preventative sterilisation if the water isn’t used.

After dispensing, the product is then further sterilised in an autoclave at 121°C for 15minutes.

SGL manufactures and quality-controls the product to its internal specifications and in compliance with ISO 9001 (reference FM37824).
