Tryptone Soya Broth

Description

0595 – Tryptone Soya Broth (TSB), also known as casein soya bean digest broth, enriches and recovers a wide range of microorganisms. The medium supports microbiology workflows described in European Pharmacopoeia 2.6.12 and 2.6.13 and USP <61> and <62>. Under appropriate incubation conditions, TSB supports aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms, including fastidious and non-fastidious bacteria and fungi.

The combination of tryptone and soya peptone provides a rich supply of nutrients that promotes abundant microbial growth. Users can supplement the medium with serum to enhance the recovery of particularly fastidious organisms.

The TSB formulation contains:

1. Tryptone, which supplies peptides and amino acids.
2. Soya peptone, which provides additional peptides, amino acids, vitamins and carbohydrates.
3. Sodium chloride, which maintains osmotic balance.
4. Glucose, which supplies a fermentable carbohydrate that microorganisms can use for energy.
5. Dipotassium hydrogen phosphate, which buffers the medium and maintains a pH range that supports microbial growth.

SGL manufactures and quality-controls the product to its internal specifications and in compliance with ISO 9001 (reference FM37824). A UKAS-accredited laboratory operating to ISO/IEC 17025 (accreditation number 4356) tests the product. At the customer’s request, the laboratory can also perform additional specification testing.
