9060 – Maximum Recovery Diluent (MRD media) is a protective, isotonic diluent for the maximum recovery of micro-organisms especially food, clinical and environmental, and for

Also known as Tryptone salt broth, made of casein peptone and sodium chloride. The peptone has a protective effect as it helps maintain the organisms for up to 2hours without multiplication. This helps facilitate accurate quantitative procedures, maintaining viable counts. The physiological saline provides osmotic balance to prevent dilution stress. The isotonic property of the medium ensures recovery of micro-organisms from multiple sources which may be vulnerable in distilled water or other aqueous suspensions.
