Description

3190 – SGL supplies Buffered Sodium Chloride Peptone Broth, Harmonised (EP/USP/JP), in ready-to-use tubes for routine microbiological testing. It is suitable for pharmaceutical microbiology and environmental sample testing.

Buffered Sodium Chloride Peptone Broth, Harmonised (EP/USP/JP) is recommended by the harmonised European, United States and Japanese Pharmacopoeias for examining non-sterile products. This non-selective medium enables laboratories to dissolve, suspend and dilute samples from pharmaceutical products and other materials.

The low concentration of peptone supplies nutrients that minimise physiological shock and support the viability of sensitive microorganisms. Sodium chloride maintains osmotic balance, while the phosphate buffer stabilises the pH. Together, these components create a controlled isotonic environment that preserves microbial viability without promoting significant growth.

The medium supports workflows described in Ph. Eur. 2.6.12 and USP <61> and, where applicable, meets the performance-testing requirements of ISO 11133.

SGL manufactures and quality-controls the product to its internal specifications and in compliance with ISO 9001 (reference FM37824). A UKAS-accredited laboratory operating to ISO/IEC 17025 (accreditation number 4356) tests the product in accordance with ISO 11133. At the customer’s request, the laboratory can also perform additional specification testing.
